News (n): The report or account of recent (esp. important or interesting) events or occurrences, brought or coming to one as new information

Forgive the long absence from blogging… it always takes me a while to settle back in to the new semester… fun photos of the so-called “snowpocalypse” are forthcoming, muses on the general situation are in process but will only improve with hindsight.

In the meantime, I wanted to submit a 2010 update on news and events forthcoming.

The full project in collaboration with my good friend, ceramicist Stephanie Rozene, titled Simultaneous Contrast: Investigating Presidential China Patterns, a Purdy/Rozene Project will be on exhibit as a part of the 43rd Annual NCECA (National Council for the Education of Ceramic Arts) Conference in an exhibit called DIS Arming Domesticity curated by Gail Brown. The exhibit will be on display March 7th through April 23rd at the Duke Gallery at The Community Arts Center in Wallingford, PA. We are very excited to finally see the full project come to fruition.

Here’s the flyer:

Here’s the project statement:

In other news, two poems from my current manuscript-in-progress (tentatively titled The Elements, but, it might just as likely be called Here Now, Myriads) have been accepted at journals I respect, DIAGRAM and Marginalia, so I’m also thrilled about that. More news about those when the issues are out, for sure.

I hope all is well for you in 2010… more soon!
